Basic Retreats

Basic Beginer Retreats

Basic/Beginner retreats are important retreats for many reasons.  It provides a yogi with basic information and its applications to practice.  This guidance from a teacher in a suitable environment establishes a foundation in its practitioner.

The first retreat if not properly established and like in most cases started with improper consideration for the basics, a yogi may find mistakes growing together with the practice.  We make the beginner retreat quite comprehensive bringing to the yogi all necessary details, the how’s and why’s of practice in an acceptable manner.  For this reason among others, beginner retreats attract even intermediate and advanced practitioners to participate for reconfirmation of basics or a suitable environment to deepen their practice.

Madin retreat starts on 24/03/2020 to 30/03/2020 and is being held at Mountbatten bungalow in Kandy.  This beginner retreat is

complemented by the beautiful tea plantations amidst the misty mountains in Kandy.

How can I help other yogis who may have financial difficulties? You can help sponsor yogis who may have financial difficulties by making a donation that will be used directly for their retreat costs.  For example - If fictitious yogi Sumana has to pay Rs. 80,000 and she is also currently unemployed and cannot afford the cost - then your donation of Rs. 20,000 will go to pay for up to 2/3rd of her cost, provided Bhante approved her as a participant.  She would then have to pay only Rs. 26,667 that she can pay out of pocket or either collect on her own.  If you would like to contribute towards this sponsorship fund, please e-mail Abigail ( for more details.
