Dhammapada Course Description 

 

EDp

The Essential Dhammapada (EDp) course was initially started for meditators who need to support their practice with the direct teachings of the Buddha. This course is structured to include the basics of the Dhammapada along with techniques of how to study, interpret and apply the teachings to the practice.  The course focuses on selected stanzas that are relevant for foundational study and application. Each class consists of reading and reciting of stanzas followed by translation from Pali and understanding the relevant background story.  

 

 

EDp1

Beginner course;  "Essential Dhammapada " (EDp) includes about 25 core Dhammapada stanzas including their translation and back ground story.   This EDp course is a pre-requisite for the more advanced and comprehensive Dhammapada course that covers the entire Dhammapada along with an indepth study of Pali, and applications to Dhamma and Meditation.

Dhammapada Class Structure

EDp1 Level course will include the following compulsory elements:

  • introduction to stanzas

  • background

  • meaning and application

  • word by word

  • language

  • memorising and pronunciation

 

What you will learn

EDP1: Essential Dhammapada stanzas are learned in this course and give the students insight into practical application and reflection for their meditation practice.

For whom

Yogis who have demonstrated their commitment to the practice through daily sitting with log book entries, retreat attendance and guidance sessions are eligible to apply.

 

If your current practice is insufficient to attend this class, Bhante will be unable to approve your registration for this batch.  You can join the following batch when you have demonstrated sufficient interest by attending Sunday class, submitting logs and having personal guidance on a regular basis.
