On the Ill Poya Day in November 2019, the first Nirodha Colombo City Centre katina ceremony was conducted amidst long standing traditional practices. Katina marks the culmination of the Rains retreat or Vassana season. The Katinanisansa sermon on the merits of performing the Katina rituals was given by the Chief Vice Leader of Kotte Sri Samagri Dharma Mahasangha Sabbha Professor Agghamaha Pandita Kotapitiya Rahula Annunayaka Thero.
